Rebirth Project early sketches

Rebirth Project is something I’ve planning for a long time. It will involve a digital comic and a novel, (and a print comic if I’m lucky enough). Over the time it has had many paths, characters and settings, but quite a few things remained unchanged.

A year ago I’ve started working on some character sketches, but dropped off for reasons beyond me.

From this early sketches, the ones I liked the most, are two of the main characters, Alexis and a unnamed guy.

Alexis is the main character of the story. She is forced beyond her own control to start a journey into the dark and self discovering.

In this drawing, I like how innocent and cute she looks, yet her expression might say something else. In earlier stages she was blonde, but that changed after the darker tone I wanted for the story.

This drawing was from more than one year ago, and since then I had some changes for her, not drastically, but the clothing will look a bit different.

I intend for her to not use fire guns, but that could change too. In the meantime I want her to use knives, katanas and that sort of things. This is something reminiscent from her… Star Wars period!

This guy resembles myself a little, and is a secondary, yet important piece to Alexis journey.

His clothing is simpler and more straightforward. The hair has red details that again resembles me, and at the same time is intended as a connection to Alexis. Not sure about the ponytail tough.

In both this drawing I like the fact that the rough pencil sketches are still present and give a sort of dirty look to the otherwise clean Photoshop and Illustrator vectors and coloring.

The codenamed Rebirth Project is a story about love, loss, revenge and finding your purpose in life. It will have a dark setting with elements and style from Tim Burton films, gothic music, action movies and anime. I hope it will turn up to be something special for those who will read and see it.

Right now I’ve started drawing again, thinking of new directions the story might take, and, as soon as developments are made about this project you’ll find them here.
